Hashmi<\/strong>, Chemical Engineering, Northeastern University<\/p>\n<p><strong>Artem Rumyantsev<\/strong>, Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, NCSU<\/p>\n<p><strong>Dong Jin Seo<\/strong>, Chemical Engineering, Brigham Young University<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>We invite outstanding graduate students to be considered for the Langmuir Graduate Student Award, to be decided at the upcoming 97<sup>th<\/sup> ACS Colloids and Surface Science Symposium (CSSS) at NC State, June 4-7, 2023.\u00a0 This Award is sponsored by the ACS journal <em>Langmuir<\/em> and the ACS Division of Colloid and Surface Chemistry (COLL) to recognize excellence in research, scientific communication, and oral presentation.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Eligibility<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>All graduate students fulfilling the following conditions are eligible for consideration:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Students who are current PhD candidates<\/li>\n<li>Students who will not defend their thesis before the 97<sup>th<\/sup> ACS CSSS (June 4, 2023)<\/li>\n<li>Students whose abstracts have been already submitted for oral presentations<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Application Procedure<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Any student wishing to be considered for the Langmuir Graduate Student Award should submit an application package consisting of a single pdf file with the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Research statement (no more than 2 pages, using NSF margin &amp; spacing guidelines)<\/li>\n<li>Oral presentation abstract including the session name<\/li>\n<li>Recent CV (no more than 3 pages)<\/li>\n<li>Nomination letter from the PhD thesis advisor (no more than 2 pages)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Application packages are due no later than April 21, 2023. Nominators should upload materials using this link: <a href=\"https:\/\/neu.co1.qualtrics.com\/jfe\/form\/SV_elBa8u2gmeCjiXI\">https:\/\/neu.co1.qualtrics.com\/jfe\/form\/SV_elBa8u2gmeCjiXI<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Selection Procedure<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Applications will be reviewed by the Langmuir Award Committee, which will select 8 finalists.\u00a0 Selection criteria include: (1) relevance to the field of colloid and surface science, (2) clarity of the research statement, (3) broader impacts of the research, and (4) research accomplishments. The 8 finalists will give their oral presentations <strong><em>twice<\/em><\/strong> \u2013 in the session selected during abstract submission and,<strong><em> additionally,<\/em><\/strong> in a special Langmuir Graduate Student Award Session to be scheduled during the 97<sup>th<\/sup> ACS CSSS, attended by a panel of judges selected by the Committee.
